ONLINE INTERVIEW

How Old Are You?
19.

Where Are You From?
Davis, California (near Sacramento)

How Long Have You've Been Beatboxing For?
About one Year

What Got You Into Beatboxing?
Went to High School with Leejay

What Type Of Equipment Do You Have?
Shure 58 (and little home mini studio with Yamaha MOTIF 8)

Have You Ever Done Any Live Shows, Events, Concerts?
I currently beatbox with the Jazz Singers at California State University of Sacramento and we have shows quite often around California. I also perform at local open mic’s and share music that I’ve written and beatbox, play guitar and sing at the same time. I’m also starting The Butterscotch Jazz Trio where I play the piano, sing, play the guitar, saxophone and beatbox (not all five at the same time) and I have bass and drums to back me up.

How Do You Feel About The Beatboxing Movement?
I love it. I think it’s crazy how it went underground for so long in the 90’s, it’s time to bring it back out.

Who Is Your Favourite Beatboxer?
I must say Leejay because he is the one who inspired me from the get-go. Next to Leejay I would have to say Kenny Muhammad because he is so incredibly amazing and has impacted the beat boxing scene greatly.

How Do You Find It Being A Female Beatboxer in the Scene?
Being a female beat boxer, one has nothing really to lose. It’s like when I used to play basketball with the boys; they expected me to be terrible, but once I was on the court I showed them up.

What Are Your Future Beatboxing Goals?
My goal right now is to get a solid routine using my instruments that I play with my beat boxing and tour around California and eventually the world.
